Meet the Team, Caitlin Krohnke

As RealtyAds’ talented team continues to grow, we highlight dynamic team members from all departments. These individuals play an essential role in connecting our product with clients, and we believe it’s crucial to familiarize yourself with the team that provides support to both you and your company.

Caitlin joined the RealtyAds team in August 2022 and currently works as the Director of Marketing Strategy. In her current role, Caitlin leads initiatives that enable brand growth and influence sales activity. Specializing in nurturing prospects and generating demand, Caitlin is an asset and an essential part of the dynamic team here at RealtyAds, helping to ensure the education and success of the RealtyAds team and our clients. 

What initially drew you to work for RealtyAds?

When my fiance and I were deciding where to live next, Chicago was always my top choice. So, when I started searching for new opportunities and came across RealtyAds, I was immediately drawn to the innovation they were creating in CRE by leveraging digital channels. I have direct experience with (1) building out marketing strategies within startups and (2) introducing new technologies or strategies to the marketplace, so when I found this opportunity, I knew I had to jump at it. 

Working in a property tech company over the last few years, how have you seen it change the CRE Industry?

Although I was new to commercial real estate, I’ve experienced other industries that resemble it in their caution for adapting or changing go-to-market strategies. Over the last few years, I’ve seen CRE become more willing to test new technologies, collaborate on sales enablement efforts, and evolve their toolbox for leasing. First and foremost, CRE is a connection-based industry where you must trust the professionals you work with, receive advice from, and ultimately buy from. I’ve enjoyed watching the industry grow by adapting new technologies that enhance their efforts and work with their leasing or marketing strategies to combat vacancies. 

How would you say RealtyAds is different from other startups?

I’m what you could call a serial startup employee. Ever since I graduated college, I’ve experienced the different cultures and missions of startups. One of the most significant benefits of working for a startup is the highly unique experience you’ll gain; no two startups are the same. RealtyAds is incrementally unique for a couple of reasons. First, our founders wholeheartedly believe in the problem we’re trying to solve and work just as hard as anyone else in the company. Second, we’ve focused on steady and purposeful growth. This means we’re not hiring to hire; we want like-minded individuals excited to work for a greater goal. And finally (there are many more reasons why RealtyAds is elite, but I won’t keep you reading all day), everyone and their opinion matters. When you walk into the RealtyAds office, you can feel it. From sales and account management to engineering and design, you are a valued team member working towards one goal. Everyone at the company, from the person who’s been here two weeks to the first-ever employee, is working together to help commercial real estate find, advance, and close more deals.  

As the RealtyAds and marketing teams have continued to grow, how have you seen the company grow and evolve?

The RealtyAds marketing team is just over two years old, so I could not be more proud of the content, strategies, and collaboration this small but mighty team of two has produced. Since I started at RealtyAds, I’ve had a front-row seat to our growth and evolution. Beginning with the conception of a marketing department and leading up to our first-ever company-wide offsite trip. When you work for a startup, you need to have a certain mentality regarding problem-solving, innovation, and collaboration. I’ve seen RealtyAds grow into a well-oiled machine with some of the best employees we could ask for. 

How does the culture at RealtyAds support you and your goals, in and outside the office?

All the credit for RealtyAds’ outstanding culture goes to the individuals who make up the company. Every employee has the same drive, dedication, and willingness to collaborate. In my role, RealtyAds culture has supported my goals from the very beginning. Starting as a one-person department, everyone was willing and eager to help me understand the industry and learn the product. From there, I knew I could rely on my coworkers and founders for support while developing marketing strategies. The relationships I’ve made inside the office have also translated into real friendships outside the office. Every employee is willing to help you grow within the industry and open up their network for your success. 

What do you enjoy doing outside of work?

Outside the office, I enjoy spending time with family and friends, walking along the lakefront with my fiance, and doing pilates workouts. But my favorite thing to do is head to Lake Okoboji, IA, where my family has been spending summers since I was born. 

What is your favorite thing to do in Chicago?

I love a good happy hour, whether a planned company happy hour with the entire team, an impromptu kitchen hang, or meeting up with friends after work. Chicago has some of the best happy hour spots, especially in the summer when you can find a perfect patio.
