Meet The Team, Adam Sparks

scroll

As RealtyAds’ talented team continues to grow, we are highlighting dynamic team members from all departments. These individuals play an essential role in connecting our product with clients, and we believe it’s crucial to familiarize yourself with the team that provides support to both you and your company.

Adam joined RealtyAds at the end of 2023. Bringing years of CRE and digital strategy experience, Adam serves as our Vice President of Strategic Growth. In this role, Adam is responsible for collaborating with some of the largest ownership groups and brokerage firms across the globe to help with leasing activity and enhance digital exposure for their properties. Pivotal within the RealtyAds team, Adam ensures clients find success while working with RealtyAds.

Joining RealtyAds at the end of 2023, what was the thing that stuck out to you right away about the company/ culture?

Starting at RealtyAds in December 2023, it was immediately apparent how the team lived our values.  A key pillar at our company is being Community Leaders and winning together.  From my very first day walking into the office, I was welcomed with open arms, asked for my perspective, and immediately made to feel like part of the team.  As I dove into the success stories since our inception in 2019, it was clear that no one wanted to take sole credit. That kind of selflessness has only grown in my 6 months with the business.

With your experience in CRE tech and digital ads, what would you say has been the most significant change/pivot you’ve seen in the industry in the last five years?

Years ago, when I first broke into the CRE tech space, it was very much still a question if digital channels were worth the squeeze. Today, it’s very clear that question has been answered with a resounding yes. The focus has shifted from “Should we be here?” to “How can we be more efficient on these channels” and “Are we actually communicating to the right audiences.” The Space is rapidly evolving, and it’s amazing to be working for a company that’s developing as fast as space is changing.

How has your past industry experience prepared you to contribute to the team’s success here at RealtyAds?

RealtyAds was such a unique opportunity for me because it really is at the intersection of two things I’m passionate about – commercial real estate and digital advertising.  Having the opportunity to work for two of the most well-respected players in each space – CoStar and LinkedIn – gave me a deep understanding of our clients day to day work.  Being able to have that strong foundation of the day-to-day work and long-term goals of an Asset Manager, a Broker, and a CMO has given me the ability to bring insights to our internal team that don’t have 15+ years in the space.  More importantly, it’s given me the ability to bring a unique lens to our customers and help them realize their goals.

What has been the most rewarding thing about being a part of the team here at RealtyAds?

The most rewarding part of being a part of the RealtyAds team comes in two waves.  First and foremost, it’s seeing the success realized by our customers. I came here because of the immense value I could see in our product after my years on the Advertising team at LinkedIn and there is truly nothing better than hearing the wins from our customers in the field.  The second item is what really lights my fire, and that’s seeing the development of our own team.  Since the beginning of the year I’ve seen such progression across the business and from my Strategic team in particular.  There is truly nothing better than seeing one of your partners improve their skills and hit their personal goals.

Working on the Strategic Accounts Team, what would you say has been your greatest success so far?

This is the hardest question of the bunch because of how much the team has accomplished this year.  When we moved into our new office in February, the team sat down together and did a whiteboard exercise, working through both our personal and professional goals.  While we haven’t hit all those milestones yet (we’re only halfway through the year), I’m most proud of the way the team has shown up day in and day out.  They are the definition of walking the walk vs. talking the talk, and they push me to be the best version of myself.

What does your day-to-day look like?

MEETINGS (lol). But anyone reading this can likely relate.  No day is the same in my role, but I would say 70% of my time is spent meeting with clients, prospects, cross-functional partners, or my team.  The other 30% of the time is spent in “deep work” (account research, market canvassing, industry networking, proposal building, custom reporting).

What do you like most about working in the office?

By far, the best part about working in the office is the ability to work with my team in real-time.  WFH is great, don’t get me wrong, but it completely eliminates the ability to work with someone without a) slacking them, b) checking calendars, and c) coordinating times.  The ability to just walk over to someone’s desk is something that I completely took for granted in previous roles that were more remote-forward.

What do you enjoy doing outside of work?

When I’m not working, I’m usually doing one of a few things.  First and foremost, hanging out with my tribe – my incredible wife (Laura), my ever-changing toddler (Jack), and my noisy Frenchy (Lou).  If I’m not with them, you can typically find me on the golf course (favorite: Sunset Valley), out on a run (favorite: Lake Shore Drive), at a show (favorite: Salt Shed), at a dive bar (favorite: The Lodge), or trying to find Chicago’s #1 burger (favorite: Au Cheval still takes the cake for me). Last summer, we moved to the North Shore, and I’m loving the life of a suburban Dad.

What is your favorite thing to do in Chicago?

Picking one favorite thing to do is too tough for me, so I’ll give you my ideal Ferris Bueller’s Day Off: grab an iced coffee on the way home from dropping Jack off at daycare, 18 holes of golf at one of the many great public courses on the North side, take the Metra down to the city, hit a workout class at Studio Three, grab an early dinner at LuxBar in the Gold Coast, catch a show over at the Salt Shed with my wife Laura, and grab a few after-hours drafts at Queen Mary in Wicker Park.
